The modern living room is often viewed as a place of productivity for families who spend a lot of time in front of a laptop. Modern living rooms are created in a contemporary style with high ceilings, exposed beams, flat or curved floors, and minimal furnishings. The use of fabrics, colors and textures of many types is everyday. Wood and glass are often used in conjunction with materials, accessories and small works of art.

Furniture is smaller than the average room

Sometimes with only two pieces of furniture, sometimes with three pieces of furniture. The artwork is featured in some modern living room designs. The designer strives to combine a sense of color and structure to create a relaxing environment that invites reading, sewing, cooking and other activities.

For those who have kids or have a toddler, the bohemian design allows them to comfortably read while seated or play with toys. You don’t have to deal with pesky kids yelling at you to take off your shoes while they are reading a book.

Children often play in this room, so the decoration is less critical. As long as children can play safely and are out of the way, decoration is easy. Sometimes the area is referred to as a playroom, but bohemian design is all about escape and meditation.
